Throughout a fashion design career spanning over 15 years, Demon Zhang has consistently led brands in deep collaborations with outstanding actors, singers, and performing artists from around the globe, co-creating highly original stage and theatrical costumes.
2020: The Novel musical – Head of Costume and Styling Design
The mystery musical "The Novel" tells the story of Gray Hunter, the author of the popular serial novel "The Judgement of Crime", who died in his studio in 1932 for unknown reasons. Detective Hugh Dyke found the novel editor White Huseman and claimed to have found clues from Gray's book. The truth gradually surfaced that night... Demon Zhang, as the creative director of costume design and styling for the 2020 musical "The Novel", gave the characters a visual identity through costume and detail design based on the era characteristics of the musical background and the character's personality and experience in the play, which assisted the development of the plot and even became an important part of the narrative. At the same time, Demon took into account that the costumes should be integrated with other elements on the stage to ensure the unity and integrity of the entire show.
2023: Flying Theatre – Stage Fashion Art Exhibition
As the core of "Flying Theater", the Exploration Theater STAGE PROJECT high-end stage costume exhibition showcases nearly 30 sets of stage costumes that brand designer Demon has collaborated with the best performing artists in the industry since 2021.
The design of stage costumes is an artistic co-creation with the performers. From the context, expressiveness, and performance effect, you can feel the artists' dedication to stage details and the superb skills of Demon Zhang and his team.
2023: Zheng Yunlong's What's Wrong Solo Concert – Head of Costume and Styling Design, Sponsor
Zheng Yunlong, a Chinese musical actor and singer, graduated from the Musical Department of Beijing Dance Academy in 2009. After graduation, he starred in many musicals, dramas, and film and television works. In 2021, Zheng Yunlong's "What's Wrong" Tour Concert Pro was upgraded to bring more surprise interactions, not only allowing fans and audiences to enjoy the real feeling of the concert, but also making the scene more interactive, and having a two-way rush.
Demon Zhang designed more than 10 sets of stage costumes for Zheng Yunlong's "What's Wrong" Tour Concert, carefully designed according to different stage designs and song selection styles. The varied styles and shapes perfectly match the songs, bringing excellent visual enjoyment to the audience.
2023: Theatre Award by Evening Standard – Creative Director of Sponsor Brand MITHRIDATE
On the evening of November 19, 2023, Demon Zhang led the brand MITHRIDATE to participate in the 67th Evening Standard Theatre Awards as a brand sponsor. Many famous British actors and drama masters attended the awards ceremony and dinner. As the earliest drama award established in the UK, the Evening Standard Theatre Awards represents the authoritative voice of the world-class drama stage, praises the outstanding achievements of drama creators and performers, and promotes the inheritance and innovation of drama art. This cooperation is also the latest creative cooperation project launched by MITHRIDATE Stage Project (Drama Culture and Art Project).
2024: The musical I am What I am – Head of Costume Design
The musical I am What I am is produced and produced by Guangzhou Grand Theater Management Co., Ltd. Demon Zhang leads the brand MITHRIDATE to provide costumes and styling sponsorship for the show.
Demon Zhang tailors the costumes for the characters in the play according to the script content and character settings, making the actors' styling not only highly recognizable visually, but also helping the actors quickly get into the role and improve the emotional communication of the drama performance to the audience.
